Jiangsu has rolled out a series of initiatives to improve the experience of visa-free travelers, following China’s decision to extend the permitted stay for eligible visitors to 240 hours. The province, which offers four ports of entry for visa-free transit, is spearheading these efforts to boost international tourism and commerce.

At a press conference on December 19, the provincial government detailed six key measures jointly introduced by the Department of Culture and Tourism, Public Security Department, Department of Finance, Department of Transportation, State Taxation Administration, and the People's Bank of China Jiangsu Branch:

1.Expanding International Flight Connectivity: Jiangsu plans to enhance its global air network by opening new routes and restoring flights, with a focus on global aviation hubs, key "Belt and Road" partner countries, and major international tourism markets.

2.Enhancing Payment Services: Subsidies will be provided to businesses accepting foreign card payments at cultural and tourist hotspots. Additionally, the province will expand the adoption of the digital yuan for convenience.

3.Streamlining Document Use: Measures will simplify the use of ID documents for foreign tourists and visitors from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan when booking tours or hotels.

4.Optimizing Tourism Products: The province will strengthen its presence on major international online travel platforms, improve tourism consultation and foreign language services, and refine its offerings for global visitors.

5.Supporting Travel Agencies: Jiangsu will incentivize travel agencies to attract overseas tourists through subsidies and support for international marketing campaigns.

6.Improving Tax Refund Services: Departure tax refunds will become more efficient, with expanded store coverage and streamlined procedures for international visitors.

Li Chuan, deputy director of the Department of Culture and Tourism, emphasized that the measures address key concerns of overseas tourists, highlight interdepartmental collaboration, and ensure the policies deliver tangible benefits.
