The Changzhou West Taihu Lake Urban-Rural Development Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality Pioneer Zone (referred to as the "Dual-Carbon Pioneer Zone") made its official debut at the 2025 Jiangsu Green & Low-Carbon Building International Expo, held from April 1 to 3 at the Nanjing International Expo Center.
The Pioneer Zone presented a comprehensive "dual-carbon" action plan covering high-quality green buildings, near-zero carbon industrial parks, green retrofitting of existing buildings, and new energy industry development. With a vision guided by global perspectives and international standards, the initiative emphasizes future-oriented planning and systematic thinking. Through advanced top-level design, it aims to replicate the success of world-renowned lake cities by integrating waterways and green landscapes into a harmonious urban environment. The goal is to create an ecologically sustainable, lakeside city characterized by architecturally distinctive buildings, pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods, and scenic waterfronts, serving both the Yangtze River Delta region and future urban development needs.
The initiative officially launched, accompanied by the inauguration of a technical service station, the formation of think tank and industrial alliances, and the signing of key "dual-carbon" projects. The industrial alliance will prioritize breakthroughs in near-zero energy buildings, building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), smart microgrids, and AI-driven energy efficiency optimization systems.
By combining these innovations into a zero-carbon technology matrix and establishing unified low-carbon industry standards, the Pioneer Zone aims to advance green construction technologies and position the "Changzhou Model" as a nationally recognized benchmark for sustainable development.
