The Grand Canal Oil Tank Park has launched a major renovation project aimed at revitalizing the industrial heritage site into a vibrant social destination. This transformation will seamlessly blend diverse commercial offerings with contemporary lifestyle experiences, creating a dynamic space for visitors to explore. The project is expected to be completed by mid-2025, as announced by the Cultural, Sports, and Tourism Bureau of Zhonglou District and the Beigang Sub-district Office.

Nestled along the southern bank of the Grand Canal’s Yulan Forest Corridor, the park is located just east of the Second Experimental Primary School on Yulan Road in Zhonglou. Once a storage facility for the Changzhou Petroleum Five-Star Bridge Oil Depot, the site is poised to become a hub of culture, commerce, and community.

The renovation will carefully preserve historical landmarks, including the iconic oil tanks and water tower, while introducing modern amenities and innovative spaces. Highlights of the revitalized park will include:

A Container Station: Featuring local snacks, international cuisine, and creative handmade products, this area will serve as a lively commercial hub and incubator for intelligent business platforms.

Pop-Up Themed Markets: Offering seasonal and event-driven stalls for unique shopping experiences.

A Sunken Music Plaza: Designed for concerts, performances, and immersive theater productions.

A Waterside Leisure Square: A serene space for relaxation and gatherings by the canal.

The park will also host a variety of events, from weekend market fairs to cultural performances, making it a go-to destination for locals and tourists alike. Additionally, the project includes a call for operators to manage the park’s diverse spaces, inviting food enthusiasts, artists, craftspeople, educators, athletes, and innovators to contribute their unique projects.

By blending history, nature, and culture, the Grand Canal Oil Tank Park is set to become a model for urban renewal, offering a rich tapestry of experiences for visitors to enjoy.
